One simple way to improve interaction performance is to not engage the hardware in pointless activity.
In the video below, the difference between Revit 2015 on the left and Revit 2016 on the right is that we stopped computing any display changes for the objects outside the linked model cropbox, leading to a noticeable improvement in navigation.
Sometimes the easiest performance improvements come from doing less.
