This has been a long time in coming. The Revit family of products finally has support for 3D navigation devices from 3DConnexion. I have been anticipating this ever since we integrated the ViewCube component back in release 2009. Besides the obvious advantages to 3D navigation afforded by these devices - there is some hidden goodness as well. If you are lucky enough to have SpacePilot Pro with all of the fancy buttons, you can assign any Windows key and any Revit keyboard shortcut to any of the buttons. Not only that, you can string together multiple commands into macros! Now, before you get too excited, there is no conditional logic or anything. It is a straight serial sequence. But if carefully configured, this has the potential to be a really powerful feature. This video runs through the set up. So grab a cup of coffee and start thinking of your pitch to management to buy you one of these babies.

Yes, justifying the purchase will be tough. We will see though! http://adventuresinbim.blogspot.com/2011/04/what-do-irvine-los-angeles-ontario-and.html

@Steve, A 30 day demo? Nice! Just make sure no one spills coffee on any of the mice!

So far, nothing spilled on them (looking for some wood to go knocking on)... Looks like we have found a use for them after all!
