Faithful readers, in an effort to reduce costs, improve security and take advantage of new mobile technology this blog will start to post exclusively in datamatrix.
What is it? Data Matrix symbols are made up of modules arranged within a perimeter and can encode up to 3,116 characters from the entire ASCII character set. The symbol consists of data regions which contain modules set out in a regular array.
How do I read these? Our surveys show most customers have an iphone or android which can scan these using a simple free app (click for android or iphone). If you don't have one of these phones don't worry.. the person sitting next to you does and will love to show it off to you.
In time we have found, with practice, the symbols can be read without a scanner. Customers that can read Revit journal files have shown to be particularly capable of this.
